Scholarship information

Full-time PhD scholarship 19K CAD per annum for 3.5 years subjected to satisfactory annual progress review and the University's approval. Adjustment can be made for exceptional students.

Opportunities

This project is a collaboration with Ericsson Canada and co-funded by NSERC. Successful candidate will be supervised by research teams in both Ericsson and Ãcole de Technologie Suprieure (ETS). The candidate will conduct his research in Ericsson. It will be a very good opportunity to do industrial research, which we believe is beneficial for career development for the candidate.

Project Supervision 

The candidate will work on projects in the context of Cloud Computing and Storage. The details can be discussed and decided according the competence and interest of the candidate after the recruitment. Major targets include scientific papers, patents, and prototypes, etc.

Preferred candidate's background: 

  • Candidate with a Master degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering or relevant Engineering disciplines can apply. 
  • Knowledge/Experience with OpenStack, Linux IO, Clouds. 
  • Strong programming skills (students with no programming experience would not be considered). 
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning, Data Mining and Statistical Inference would be an advantage. 
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English are essential. 
  • Good analytical and critical thinking skills are essential. 
  • Knowledge of is Software Defined Storage/Non Volatile Memory/Storage Tiering a an advantage.
